Season 2 Episode 14 “Homecoming”
This “Homecoming” sends us reeling as we ride the roller-coaster of intrigue and suspense that leaves us with more questions than answers. As lighthearted as the last episode (Mr. and Mrs. Mxyzptlk) was is how deep this Supergirl episode goes! I enjoyed how this episode, like the rest of the show, doesn’t take itself too seriously. Certainly, the right amount of cheese makes dark topics palatable for family viewing.
I loved this episode. As worlds collide, the DEO is forced into what seems an idyllic situation and must make a choice. I know that we all want to see the best in those that we knew. However, I was surprised at the level of unprofessionalism demonstrated by the organization as a whole. Having said that, I understand it.
I have found deep concepts and plot points wrapped in awkward glances and embarrassing moments. Whether it is not being heard by the one person that you thought would hear you or having to decide what’s best for all at the expense of yourself, Supergirl cradles us in its arms and then just drops us like a bag of groceries.

At the beginning of this series, I felt that the characters were one-dimensional. However, they are growing every episode, and “Homecoming” is no exception.
I have so many hopes for Winn who is my personal favorite. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a big brain. Is his lady friend a little too perfect? I seriously hope not, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Mon-el is growing on me with his obnoxious, arrogant wit. He’s becoming an important character that should stick around. I don’t really know how I feel about him being with Kara yet. They are two, immature people flailing their way through this trying to make a difference in the world.
“Since when is Supergirl’s heat vision explosive?”
Alex’s strength always amazes me. I could feel her mind trying to work everything out. What happens when your heart overrides logic?
Since when is Supergirl’s heat vision explosive? Did they set a charge or is that a fancy, new feature? How can the DEO not detect something so obvious as electronic equipment somewhere that no electronics should be but can scan the city for a specific, radiation signature? Where was the Guardian?
There are many fallacies such as shooting a computer monitor doesn’t actually affect the data on the machine, but hey, we still get the point. I choose to suspend disbelief and simply laugh as it adds to the camp, which allows emotional room to breathe.
