The Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder are back. This time they are teaming up with another great show from the sixties. The Avengers from across the pond. That’s right Batman and Robin will be teaming up with British spies John Steed and Mrs. Peel from the hit television show The Avengers that was created in 1961. After the great success of Batman teaming up with The Green Hornet and The Man from U.N.C.L.E  this should be another great ride from DC Comics and Boom! Studios. Being a huge Batman ’66 fan I really am looking forward to this run. I own the complete television series from the sixties along with all the comic team-ups and solo series of the Caped Crusaders. There is just a great comedic sensibility from the show that carries into these comics. All the campy humor is located in these comics. Now add in the British humor of The Avengers and this should be a fun romp down memory lane.

This comic will launch June 8th as a 12-chapter, bi-weekly series.

Following the digital release in June, the comic will debut as a print periodical in July as a 6-issue series. Here is the first issue description and cover by Michael Allred:

As Bruce Wayne shows the beautiful head of a UK electronics company the sights of Gotham, they are interrupted by the felonious feline Catwoman! Unwilling to leave Miss Michaela Gough unprotected, Bruce resigns himself to the fact that Batman cannot save the day. But some new players have arrived in town – though even as the lovely, catsuit-clad Mrs. Peel and her comrade John Steed take control of the situation, nefarious plots continue apace!

Critically acclaimed British comic book writer Ian Edginton (X-Force, JUSTICE LEAGUE) has been tapped to pen the series, joined by artist Matthew Dow Smith (JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS & MONSTERS – BATMAN). Cover artists include BATMAN ’66 veteran Michael Allred and fan-favorite artist Cat Staggs, who contributes a variant cover for issue #1.
