Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane is a huge Star Trek fan. He has reunited the casts on several occasions for his Fox series Family Guy and frequently works with Trek’s Patrick Stewart on projects. This fall, MacFarlane is spoofing the series with his new show The Orville and we have the trailer.

The series stars MacFarlane as Captain Ed Mercer, commander of the mid-level exploratory vessel U.S.S. Orville. Mercer is finally given command of his own ship after getting over a messy divorce and assembles an eccentric, but qualified crew to join him on his mission to explore the galaxy. His life becomes more complicated when he is assigned a First Officer, who happens to be his ex-wife. The one hour workplace comedy/drama airs this fall on Fox.

From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted”) and directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book,” “Iron Man”), THE ORVILLE is a one-hour science fiction series set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, faces the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace…even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship.
