It’s October and that means Halloween is almost here. In honor of my favorite holiday of the year I give to you my top thirty horror movies. Now some of these films might be on every list, but some might not. I might even have a film or two that you have never heard of. Just remember this is my top thirty. In other words these films made me cringe or just sent chills up my spine. So with no further ado here is my list.

# 14

I can recall sitting in the theatre as a kid. I was twelve years old and was told not to see this movie. Well I am that kid who never listened. I must have jumped in my seat numerous times. I also can tell you that I loved it. Poltergeist is the movie that started my fascination with horror movies. From this movie on I could not get enough scares in my life.

A typical suburban family is living a simple life. Then one day the youngest of the family starts to talk to the television set.

She proclaims those famous words “They’re Here”. Their house becomes a hotbed for paranormal activity. It starts off all fun and games. Furniture becomes rearranged and even a fun game with the youngster being moved on the floor with no one touching her.

Then it takes a turn for the dark side. When the spirits decide the fun is over. Let the horror begin! From a possessed tree to even a harmless toy clown nothing is safe as all hell breaks loose.

This film is not a blood and guts movie. More of jump out of the closet scare tactics. It will have you jumping straight out of your seat or running to hide under the covers. Stay away from the remake it is not worth it, but the original is truly a haunting masterpiece.
