This month, put your hands and riot points together for Feoranna!

How old are you and how long have you been cosplaying?
I am 23 years old and I have been costuming since I was a child. My Grandma taught me how to sew and do crafts from a VERY young age. But I started being a full-time cosplayer close to 2 years ago.

Why did you choose the name “Feoranna”?
The name Feoranna is from my name from my World of Warcraft days actually! I used to play A LOT. A LOT A LOT. And that was my main (A Night Elf Hunter, obviously). I really loved it, and had it for so many years – I started playing in 2009 and it’s been my name the whole time. It sorta went over in all the other games I played over the years and seemed appropriate.

What is your favorite cosplay that you’ve done to date?
I really love my Diana cosplay. I spent a lot of time on that and there is a TON of detail work. I have only worn her 2 times though, and I accidentally left it in Oregon before my move! So I will bring her back eventually hopefully! I also really love being Jinx. She is one that I can be really crazy and weird with, and making the props was awesome.

If you had to pick a single favorite moment at a convention that you’ve experienced, what would it be?

Oh god, that is so hard! I guess if I HAD TO CHOOSE I would say at PAX Prime last year I went on stage dressed in one of my League of Legends costumes along side a few other Katarina cosplayers and we did her dance! Ha! It was so random, and we literally learned the dance IN LINE before we went on stage. Kinda scary actually, but mostly really awesome.

How would you define “cosplay” and what does it mean to you?
To me cosplay is being able to embody a character you love, or admire. Its being able to express yourself through art, making props, sewing, acting like the characters you choose. That is one of the best parts of cosplay for me- being able to be someone else and being able to express myself creatively in a way that is positive, fun and that allows you to be yourself WHILE being someone else literally.

Are there any cosplays you’re working on that you can tell us about? When and where are you debuting them?
I have a few actually! I have a Leeloo Dallas (From The Fifth Elemnt) that I am going to premier at DragonCon this year! I am also going to be doing a Pool Party Leona for the same con. I am also thinking of making a few more of Jinx’s skins, but I haven’t QUIET decided which, or for what con it would be for.

What conventions can we expect to see you at this year?
I will be trying to make it to some Oregon conventions like Rose City Comic Con and Wizard World Portland. I am also going to be at DragonCon and New York Comic Con! I try to fit in random ones throughout the year. But those are the ones that I will be at FOR SURE this year anyway.

Do you plan on making your cosplay life into a career, or will you keep it as a casual hobby?
I do what I can. I work on commissions for people as they approach me for them, as well as sell prints when people are interested in purchasing them! I have worked at some booths in the past and will continue doing so if it comes up. But I mostly want to do it for fun, and because it’s been the best way for me to stay creative and active in my geek community.

Are there any cosplayers that you look up to?
I really love Kamui Cosplay! She is SO talented with Worbla it’s ridiculous. Another cosplayer I admire is my friend Yaya Han – but who doesn’t love her?

What advice would you give someone who is looking in to starting up cosplay?
I would say start small, don’t give up and try your hardest! Be strong and be proud of what you created, because it’s yours and it’s special. You can do anything you want, and with practice and practice you can perfect all your skills! I have skills I am working to get better at, we all are! It’s a constant learning process in this industry.
