Apr 23, 2017

Fresh from the announcement that the director of the young adult hit film The Fault in our Stars would be helming the latest Fox X-Men spinoff film New Mutants comes news that director Josh Boone would be taking on not one, but two big screen Stephen King novels to the big screen and one of them is a much beloved tale that King’s fans will be watching closely.

Lisey’s Story

The tale, inspired by King’s near fatal accident in 1999, is about Lisey Landon. The wife of famed novelist Scott Landon is dealing with the aftermath of his death two years earlier by clearing out his home office. As she begins to remember the life she had with her husband and some of the strange things that he told her about his family’s history of mental illness, she begins to examine the life she led with him and the circumstances of his death. At the same time, she is being stalked by one of his more obsessed fans. Josh Boone has been announced to write and direct the thriller.

The Stand

One of King’s most well-known and beloved stories deals with the aftermath of the end of humanity. After a plague wipes out the majority of people on Earth, the survivors journey throughout the wasteland that is America to reach two opposing factions with the hope of survival. This dense story introduces some of King’s most memorable characters from Stuart Redmond, Frannie Goldsmith, Mother Abigail to Randall Flagg. The Stand was adapted into a miniseries that spanned over three nights on ABC in 1994 and still retains a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. This is by far the most ambitious project that Boone will both write and direct.
