First look at Ghost Rider in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Sep 12, 2016

Ghost Rider is coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Yahoo has revealed the first look at GR in his fiery form.

The image itself seems a bit off to me. Between the skull and the jacket hanging weird, perhaps it’s the Photoshop or the CGI involved. Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond excited to see a live-action Ghost Rider take some sort of form again. I can’t wait to see more footage revealed from the Spirit of Vengeance. The last time we saw Ghost Rider was in 2011 when the rights for the character still owned by Fox where Nicholas Cage played Johnny Blaze. It is interesting to see that they are going with this version of Ghost Rider. This leads me to wonder if they have any plans to incorporate Johnny Blaze in the near future. Maybe we’ll see him as a cameo, driving down a building in the upcoming Spider-Man film. 😉

This iteration of Ghost Rider is the Robbie Reyes version and will be played by Gabriel Luna. The image below also shows Robbie Reyes standing in front of his epic 1969 Dodge Charger. Honestly, It would be great to see Ghost Rider in his own series, versus as one of the plot lines to this season’s AoS. Maybe this’ll spark a spin-off the same way the Daredevil season 2 sparked the recently announced Punisher mini-series. I’m simply speculating, perhaps this is Marvel’s plan all along. Either way, I can’t wait.

In terms of the actor playing GR, I have no doubt Gabriel Luna will be great for the role. I saw his film Transpecos during SXSW and he definitely caught my attention. I think he’ll be a great Robbie Reyes.

Entertainment Weekly, previously gave us a first look at Luna as Reyes (pre-transformation)

What are your thoughts on Ghost Rider’s look for the show? This upcoming season is said to be much more grittier than previous seasons. One thing is for sure, it does appears so far this version is a copy-and-paste from the comics, which is great!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D returns to TV on September 20.
