Super heroics, office politics, Mad Men era sexism and more acronyms than you can shake a stick are present in the first issue of Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman. Bionic Woman Jaime Summers is called in to help with a dangerous mission that requires the coordination of multiple government agencies, including the IADC which happens to employ Diana Prince. The two super powered heroines are tasked with protecting a scientist, while Steve and the men are sent to protect a dangerous convoy. Both teams are ambushed as a mystery figure infiltrates the IADC headquarters for his or her own nefarious purposes.
The script by Andy Mengels is solid and is steeped in the nostalgia of the era. Jaime and Diana are given a lot to do in this issue and the art by Judit Tondora has a classic look and feel that showcases the action that both live action series were known for. The first issue in this series is a great nostalgic read that I hope keeps the look, feel and warmth of the original source material while adding some new elements to keep me interested.
Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman #1 is a solid first issue that grabs the reader in its take on these two iconic characters. The story is interesting and engaging and the artwork is solid with an emphasis on showcasing the action and power of the Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman.
