Iron Fist Greenlit for Second Season on Netflix

Jul 21, 2017

Despite the very public cancellations of shows on Netflix like Sense8 and Girl Boss, one of the more controversial shows on the network is getting some positive attention.

At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, the head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb confirmed to fans at the panel that there would be a sophomore season of Iron Fist on Netflix. At the panel to discuss The Defenders, actor Finn Jones (Iron Fist) had previously commented that a decision would be announced regarding the fate of the series.

Loeb confirmed the second season and even hinted at one of the plot lines with the comment; “A friend of Colleen Wing’s may be coming by and that makes me a little Misty,” he said. Could this mean that we might get to see the beginnings of the Daughters of the Dragon storyline in the next season? One can only speculate at this point.

Iron Fist‘s first season was marred with controversy both for the casting of Finn Jones in the role but also for, what many believed to be, lackluster action and acting. It remains to be seen whether or not any of those concerns have been addressed in the upcoming The Defenders series airing this August on the streaming service, but the announcement of the second season does give producers and writers an opportunity to revamp the series and work out whatever issues that fans didn’t warm to in the first season.

There’s no additional news on either casting or storyline, but the panel confirmed that Finn Jones would return as the title character along with Jessica Henwick returning as Colleen Wing.
