Locke & Key Pilot is Coming from Lost Producer and Marvel Studios Director

Apr 20, 2017

Some news came in today that has gotten me extremely excited. Joe Hill is an amazing writer of horror fiction and I loved his novels Horns and Heart-Shaped Box. As a comic book fan, his series Locke & Key resonated with me from the first issue. When it was announced that the comic series would become a live action one, I got excited. That excitement faded as news that the pilot would be shelved and the series would not move forward began to trickle in. Today, that excitement is renewed with the news that the series might be getting new life.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Carlton Cuse (Lost, The Strain. Bates Motel) will be producing the pilot for Hulu. Cuse will produce the series along with Lindsey Springer (Jack Ryan). The pilot script will be written by Joe Hill based on his comic series and the pilot will be directed by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, who will also produce.

Six years ago a pilot for the series was shot from producers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci (Alias, Sleepy Hollow) for Amblin Entertainment, but it was never picked up by FOX. The publisher of the series IDW started taking it out to pitch last month.

Locke-and-Key

Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them. Home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all…

This is definitely a project that I will be following closely. More on this later.
