Dan Buckley has been named President of Marvel Entertainment. He takes over the role from Alan Fine, who had been with the company since 1996. Buckley has been with the company since 2003 and was previously a publisher and writer for Marvel Comics. He will now oversee publishing, animation, games, television and digital. He will continue to report to Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter. He will not be in charge of Marvel Studios, which is run by Kevin Feige.

Buckley and Jeph Loeb were instrumental in the creation of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the current slate of Netflix Marvel Series Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and the upcoming The Defenders limited series. The move is seen by some as a means of continuing the publishing brand relevance with a fan of the medium, who has knowledge of the characters and worlds, in command.
