Feb 28, 2017

The casting news has been coming steadily lately. With new series going into production as old series wind down, the latest crop of comic book related offerings seem to be making more and more news lately. The latest news is that Marvel and ABC have cast the lead in their newest series Inhumans.

A week after the announcement that Game of Thrones veteran Iwan Rheon would be playing the villanous Maximus the Mad on the series, comes news from Entertainment Weekly and Deadline that Hell on Wheels actor Anson Mount has been cast as the leader of the Inhumans Black Bolt.

The series, which will premiere in select Imax theaters before its television run, is about the royal family of the enhanced Inhumans from Marvel Comics. While plot details are scarce, there is a palpable air of intrigue that both actors are familiar with in their previous roles. Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb has stated about the actor;

“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Loeb. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
