Spidey to be joined by fellow MCU characters in next year’s solo film

On May 6, Spider-Man will be making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: Civil War on the side of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr. ). Now Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that in the July 7, 2017 standalone film for the friendly neighborhood web-slinger, which could potentially be titled Spider-Man: Homecoming, he’ll be alongside other MCU characters.

“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Feige told EW.

Feige can’t confirm this early on who those “characters” could be, but one-half of the Russo brothers had this to say, “Let’s just say … Great Lakes Avengers.”

Could Downey have been hinting at a cameo for himself in the Spidey film?

We’ll have to wait and see. So until Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is swinging the streets solo-ish, see if you live in a city lucky enough to go watch Civil War at an early screening.
