“Bottled Light Part 1: Duty Calls”
DC Comics

Written by: Robert Venditti
Art by: Ethan Van Sciver

Hal Jordan is missing and presumed dead…..again. His ring is searching the galaxy as John Stewart and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps have converged on Mogo in Space Sector Zero to confront a force of Yellow Lanterns on Mogo’s surface. They are toting the missing and de-powered Guy Gardner led by former Green Lantern Soranik Natu. Guy tells Stewart of the liberation of War World, but John is naturally suspicious. The recriminations and accusations are short lived as an emergency transmission comes in from Tomar-Tu’s home planet of Xudar. Sciver’s art once again conveys the beauty and power of these cosmic characters.hjglc_8_5_581cd825d34542-20597263

Venditti is skilled at crafting a story that is large in scale and intimate in emotion as he brings together unlikely allies to take on a bigger threat in the form of the intergalactic menace, Starro. As the corps battles this world-conquering menace, a bigger threat is closing and the revelation of this big bad is worth the read. Who is a bigger threat to the corps than Starro? Will the Green and Yellow Lanterns be able to work together to escape this threat? Where will Hal Jordan’s ring end up? Pick up this issue and find out.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #8 features some out of this world art. The story looks like the beginning of an epic story arc, but the missing Hal Jordan aspect needs to be solved sooner rather than later.
