What was your first Cosplay experience?
I’ve always been interested in making costumes. I used to be involved with a vaudeville dance troupe and besides choreographing dance numbers I loved designing the costumes. I’m not sure if Halloween counts but I first cosplayed in a group of friends who made Sailor Scout costumes from Sailor Moon. I went to my first convention in 2011 as Lightning Farron. After that I was truly hooked.

How long have you been Cosplaying?
3 solid years now.

Who or what inspired you to take up Cosplaying?
My friends! They encouraged me to make costumes and go to conventions with them. Now I have more friends who cosplay all the time and they keep me in the game. My photographers also give me a lot of encouragement and ideas for new costumes.

If you had to pick a favorite Cosplay you have worn, or have seen someone else wear, what would it be?
Each of my own costumes is special to me in its own way. But for others; I absolutely LOVE seeing men cosplay as male characters from my favourite Final Fantasy games. I get all mushy and giggly inside and want to touch them. But I restrain myself of course.

If you had unlimited funds and resources, what Cosplay would you create?
Neytiri from James Cameron’s Avatar movie riding her dragon. Yes, I would be both Neytiri and her dragon at the same time.

What advice would you offer to those who are aspiring Cosplayers?
Go to as many cons and cosplay gatherings as you can. Even small ones. Nothing beats being in costume with your friends and meeting new people.
