With only a few more days left in 2014, it’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. This year has been a pretty good one for us geeks. There have been a lot of great things going on in our world and I’ve been tasked with compiling my “Best Of 2014” list. Since I’m the resident new guy here at Geeks With Wives I figured this list would be a great way for me to give my fellow geeks a glimpse into who I am. So without further ado let’s get this thing started, shall we?

Best Game of the Year: South Park The Stick of TruthStickOfTruth (520x298)
For those of you that know me, you know I’m a huge South Park fan, so this being my GOTY shouldn’t surprise you. I absolutely love this game; I’m currently on my 3rd play through and it’s just as fun as the first time I played it. Hands down this is by far the funniest game I’ve ever played. It has the trade mark humor that South Park is known far, so it truly feels like you’re watching an episode of acclaimed show instead of playing a game. I’m still holding out hope that we get some sort of DLC at some point, because once you finish up the few side quests after the main story there isn’t much left to do. If you haven’t checked this game out yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up!

*Runner up: The Evil Within

Best Movie of the Year : GodzillaGodzilla
This was actually a pretty slow year for me when it comes to movies, I tend to follow the movie world pretty closely and binge on movies throughout the year. This year however, I didn’t see as many as I normally would. But out of the few that I did see, I enjoyed Godzilla the most. Though it had a few flaws and could’ve improved in a few areas, it was at least action packed and an enjoyable watch for me.

*Runner up: The Lego Movie

Best TV Show of the Year: The Big Bang Theory (Season 8)BigBangTheory (450x520)
This show is pretty much the only show I follow closely. It’s been one of my personal favorites ever since it debuted and it’s kept me hooked ever since. It’s actually become a bit of a family thing around my house, I now have my grandmother obsessed with the show and we watch it together. This season was enjoyable all around and I can’t wait to see where they take it next season.

*Runner up: Gotham

Best Album of the Year: Sunset on the Golden Age by AlestormSunsetOfTheGoldenAge
One thing you should all know about me is that I’m a huge music nerd. I love all types of music; I honestly have the most random taste in music ever. I can go from metal, to hip hop, then right into some folk music with no problem. With having such an eclectic taste in music narrowing down to my favorite album of the year was pretty tough, but I finally did it! Hands down my favorite album of this year was “Sunset on the Golden Age” from Alestorm. If you’ve never heard of them before I can sum them up in 2 words; PIRATE METAL! That’s all that needs to be said about them, every album they’ve put out I’ve enjoyed. From the first track all the way to the end, their latest release was just as rocking as the others!

*Runner up: Undead Unplugged from Wednesday 13

Most Anticipated Event of 2015: Star Wars The Force Awakensstar wars fa 2.0
This is hands down what I’m looking forward to the most next year. I’m a die-hard Star Wars junkie and love everything they’ve been doing with the brand recently. I just can’t wait to see what they do with this. As soon as the teaser trailer hit the amount of excitement I felt couldn’t be contained. I know I’ll be there opening night for this and I can’t wait!

*Runner up: Jurassic World
