“We’re so glad we can finally talk about this…”
At Ubisoft’s E3 showcase, things started with a bang. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto came on stage with a blaster on his arm and helped officially introduce Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for the Nintendo Switch to the world with a trailer and a look at gameplay.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a strategy-rpg that combines the characters of Nintendo’s Mushroom Kingdom with Ubisoft’s Rabbids characters. In this game, Rabbids invade the Mushroom Kingdom, and Mario and gang team up with more friendly Rabbids to rid the kingdom of the nefarious invaders.
Many have known about Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for some time now. Leaks have been so prevalent, that it was even public knowledge when the trailer and gameplay would be revealed – being E3.
It’s a shame that this title was leaked, as nothing would be more shocking than Miyamoto being on stage. In this case, we knew why. They definitely missed out on an opportunity to surprise us, but despite us all having knowledge about this title for most of the year, it’s still not the most obvious pairing of IP. Hopefully, in the coming days we’ll see more gameplay for this title at Nintendo’s Treehouse livestream.
