Warner Brothers Lands Director for The Batman

Feb 10, 2017

In what might be a clear sign of a positive turn around for the consistent negative press that DC Films has taken of their slate of films, The Batman has found a director.

Variety and Deadline are reporting that Matt Reeves has been tapped by Warner Brothers to direct the next solo outing for the Dark Knight Detective. The film’s lead Ben Affleck was originally going to write, direct and star in the big screen feature, but Affleck publicly stepped back from the director’s chair. Warner Brothers stood by their star and the speculation began for who would take over the production. With stories speculating a page one rewrite in the same vain as The Flash was inevitable, Warner’s assured fans that they were happy with the current script that they have from Affleck, Chris Terrio and Goeff Johns.

Matt Reeves is known for films like Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and this years War for the Planet of the Apes that opens July 14, 2017. This will be the second time Reeves has taken over for another director after taking over for Rupert Wyatt on the Apes film. Hopefully we will be getting a production date and more news as the film moves forward.
