Jake Gyllenhaal To Play Mysterio In ‘Spider-Man 2’ – Sinister Six Coming?

May 21, 2018

Wow, it looks like Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) won’t be joining the DCU after all.

There is now word from The Hollywood Reporter that Jake will instead play a villain in Spider-Man 2 as Quentin Beck aka Mysterio. A special effects expert who uses his illusions to rob banks (motivation of all Spidey villains).

However, Variety adds that Michael Keaton‘s Vulture will be returning and gives us the impression that we’re getting the Sinister Six. A supergroup that consists of six Spider-Man villains. At one time X-Force writer-director Drew Goddard had been developing a movie.

We will now have four of the group with Mysterio, Vulture, Scorpion, and Shocker.

It’s been rumored that Kraven The Hunter and Chameleon could be coming as well and were linked to Silver and Black.

Filming begins this July in London, Prague, Venice, and New York City.

It’s release date is set for July 5th, 2019.
