On March 25th Apple announced a huge slate of upcoming shows on its new streaming service with high profile actors and actresses staring in the project, and now another drama will join the lineup. Apple has ordered an eight episode order to adapt of Stephen King’s 2006 horror-romance best-seller Lisey’s Story. That isn’t the only news though, as it has been announced Julianne Moore will star in the series. Even further, in a surprise move, Stephen King will write all eight episodes of the drama. The series will be produced by J.J. Abrams and his TV-Based Warner Bros. production company Bad Robot Productions.
The series is described as a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey (Moore) two years following the death of her husband. The story will explore a series of events that causes her to begin facing amazing realties about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten. Moore, King, Abrams, and Bad Robot topper Ben Stephenson will all serve as executive producers for the series. They now are looking for a high profile director to take on the series.
King and Abrams had previously worked together for the Hulu limited series 11.22.63. and Castle Rock. As for Julianne Moore, she returns to TV for the first time since her Daytime Emmy-winning part on the soap, As the World Turns.
