ADI Studios Returns To Handle Creature Designs In ‘The Predator’

Aug 9, 2016

Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc will be handling the predator suits in Shane Black‘s The Predator according to AVP Galaxy, who picked up on a recent social media post from the special effects house co-founder Alec Gillis confirming the news. The other co-founder Tom Woodruff Jr., is listed on IMDB as working on the film’s creature effects.

The team previously worked on the two Alien vs. Predator films, but didn’t end up returning for the Robert Rodriguez produced Predators.

ADI designed the bulky look for the predators in AVP and got a lot of backlash from fans.

In the equally terrible sequel Requiem, they completely switched up designs focusing mainly on one predator nicknamed The Wolf and gave him a sleeker look, even though he had more predator technology than previously seen in any of the films. The film had been shot in Vancouver, which will also become the production home for The Predator.

It’ll be interesting to see how they’ll tackle the new predator.

I know a lot of people including myself will be curious to see if 20th Century Fox, producer John Davis and director Shane Black will be able to convince composer Alan Silverstri (Back To The Future, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger, Predator, Predator 2) to return to compose the score, after creating the stellar scores for the first two movies.

The only foreseeable problem is that Alan has been hired to score both Avengers sequels for Marvel Studios, which could become a scheduling conflict.

The Predator is set to begin shooting this October with a release date set for February 9th, 2018.
