‘Aladdin’ Enlists Alan Tudyk to Voice Iago

Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ remake finally found its voice for the character Iago: Alan Tudyk. Iago is the wise-cracking parrot sidekick to the villain Jafar (Marwan Kenzari). Gilbert Gottfried was the voice of the role in the original film.

The cast also comprises of Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen, and Will Smith.

Tudyk has been progressively growing in popularity. He is a frequent Disney Animation collaborator, lending his voice to six different movies. Those films are ‘Wreck-it Ralph,’ ‘Frozen,’ ‘Big Hero 6,’ ‘Zootopia, ‘Moana,’ and ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet.’

Over the years, he has been part of several DC projects. Not only did he voice Green Arrow in ‘Injustice 2,’ he was in NBC’s ‘Powerless,’ and he’s in three DC Universe series: ‘Young Justice,’ the ongoing ‘Doom Patrol,’ and the upcoming ‘Harley Quinn.’

Other famous roles of his include ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and Amazon’s ‘The Tick,’ which has its second season releasing April 5. He also has the lead role in the Syfy show ‘Resident Alien,’ which just got a series order.

“A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animation classic, ‘Aladdin’ is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin (Massoud), the courageous Princess Jasmine (Scott) and the Genie (Smith) who may be the key to their future.”

Additionally, Guy Ritchie (‘Sherlock Holmes,’ ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’) serves as director and co-writer, with John August (‘Big Fish,’ ‘Frankenweenie’).

Further, the film will release on May 24th.
