Alden Ehrenreich has emerged a frontrunner for the role of the young Han Solo according to a report from Deadline.
The actor was among a handful of potential candidates that recently did screen tests for the lead role in the Star Wars anthology film. This isn’t a guarantee he’ll be offered the role, but it seems like he’s impressed directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller along with the folks over at Lucasfilm.
It’s script was penned by Force Awakens and Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Larry Kasdan, along with his son Jon Kasdan.
There’s been talk that whoever plays Han Solo will be appearing in multiple anthology films, it’s more than likely the actor needs to be able to commit to a gruelling schedule that one would assume means they can’t have too many other big projects in the horizon.
Rumors suggest that Han Solo could show up in both Rogue One and the Boba Fett movie.
Disney recently confirmed that his trusty Wookie sidekick Chewie will also be in the film.
Han Solo‘s release date is set for May 25th, 2018.
