Jun 6, 2017

Universal is becoming extremely ambitious concerning their monsters cinematic universe dubbed Dark Universe. They have a plethora of films in development post-Mummy which include Van Helsing, possibly starring Tom Cruise and focusing on Prodigium dealing with vampires/Dracula?

Along with The Bride of Frankenstein starring Javier Bardem and The Invisible Man.

Fandom (via ScreenRant) was able to get an update on two more projects/characters that are expected to join the Dark Universe. As Alex Kurtzman affirmed the previous talk that The Phantom of The Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame are on the table.

“We know we’re going to do Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Invisible Man,” he says.

It might be hard to keep track of how many Universal monsters there are, but The Phantom and Hunchback had been linked in early trade reports as being in the mix for the budding cinematic universe. However, no actual formal development plans for those projects had been announced or reported.

We know that Universal is still interested in hiring Angelina Jolie as the Bride, Dwayne Johnson as the Wolf Man, and Scarlett Johansson as the human lead in Creature From The Black Lagoon. Even though, those actors have been in the mix for as long as two years.
