All Female ‘Lord of the Flies’ Remake in the Works at Warner Brothers

Aug 31, 2017

Today, Deadline announced that directing the duo of Scott McGehee & David Siegel has boarded Warner Brothers upcoming Lord of the Flies remake. This upcoming remake of the classic 1954 novel will stay faithful with one major twist; the island will be all girls. The duo is set to both write and direct the remake.

Will speaking to Deadline Siegal added:

“We want to do a very faithful but contemporized adaptation of the book, but our idea was to do it with all girls rather than boys. It is a timeless story that is especially relevant today, with the interpersonal conflicts and bullying, and the idea of children forming a society and replicating the behavior they saw in grownups before they were marooned.”

The duo also recently directed 2012’s What Maisie Knew. As well as Bee Season and The Deep End.
