Amber Heard In Talks To Play Mera In ‘Justice League’ and ‘Aquaman’ Movies

Jan 13, 2016

The Hollywood Reporter states that Amber Heard (Pineapple Express, Machete Kills, The Danish Girl, Magic Mike XXL) is now in talks for a key role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and James Wan’s Aquaman film.

Heard is said to be up for the role of Mera, a superhero herself that will reportedly first appear in the Justice League movie setting up her character for Aquaman opposite star Jason Momoa.

Mera could end-up fighting with the Justice League boys on the same level as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, a huge step for the comic book film genre. Even Marvel only currently has one female superhero with actual powers fighting alongside the super-dudes of The Avengers via Scarlet Witch.

Rumors had suggested that the studio would be looking at actresses of color for the role, that doesn’t seem to be the case with this report.

Justice League will begin production this April with a release date of November 17th, 2017, along with Aquaman‘s release date set for July 27th, 2018.
