We recently confirmed reports that Josh Boone‘s X-Men: The New Mutants would be starting production this April-May in Montreal. This information was endorsed by Boone not long after we posted on the production news.
The Witch actress Anya Taylor-Joy had been linked to play the part of young mutant Magik with producer Simon Kinberg previously mentioning an attempt to have her Split co-star James McAvoy return to the Xavier role.
SuperheroHype seemingly was able to get Anya to briefly comment about her possible involvement in the film along with McAvoy’s. The young actresses seemingly teased both of their roles in her comments.
“I have [seen the Demon Bear animatic], it’s pretty cool,” Taylor-Joy confirmed. “I’m a big fan so I’d love to be a part of it. I can’t say very much, but I would love to be a part of it. I think this year’s gonna be very exciting.”
When we asked her if she hoped to reunite with her Split co-star James McAvoy as Professor X, she replied, “I mean, I think James is already a part of it, isn’t he?”
Games of Thrones’ Maisie Williams and Death Note’s Nat Wolff are also linked for roles.
20th Century Fox has yet to announce an official release date.
