April on shudder

To keep us on our toes and thoroughly entertained, Shudder is releasing a whole new line-up of films and series. Some highlights include the new season premiere of “Creepshow,” and the return of “The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs,” as well as a Shudder exclusive documentary, “In Search of Darkness Part II,” which continues the exploration and impact of ’80s horror films.

While some new films and series are being renewed or added, some beloved classics are being added to the Shudder roster as well, like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2” from 1986 (available now on Shudder US), the original “The Stepfather” from 1987 (available on April 19th on Shudder US), and “Horror Express” from 1972, which sounds like a nice cheesy flick for a Friday night (available on April 29th on SHudder US, UK, and ANZ).

But, more on the exclusives!

In addition to the new season of “Creepshow” and more of Joe Bob Briggs, Shudder is proud to present the “2021 FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards” which premieres on April 18th at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT in US time (this will be available to stream on Shudder CA, UK, and ANZ). Can you believe these awards have been going strong since 1992? We love our horror!

A new film, “Deadhouse Dark,” will premiere on April 29th (also available on Shudder CA, UK, ANZ), and is a horror anthology of six, interconnected, horror short films, which is said to surround the “anchor” story of a woman who receives a mystery box from the dark web. That already sounds… not good, but color me intrigued.

“In Search of Darkness Part II” seems to continue where the first part of the documentary left off, continuing to, essentially, create retrospectives about each film they delve into, discussing what makes these ’80s films so memorable, and so essential to horror. New in this documentary, is it’s expansion to cover international releases as well.
