Arnold Fans, is always following and reporting all things concerning Arnold Schwarzenegger. They were able to get some time with him during the Arnold Sports Festival this weekend. Asking him about potentially returning to the Predator franchise with a role in Shane Black’s The Predator.
He reveals that he’ll be meeting with Shane soon about the film, which is promising to fans hoping to finally see Arnold’s Dutch return for this “inventive sequel”. Shane had a supporting role in Predator as Hawkins, but was originally hired by producer Joel Silver as a script consultant on the film.
“I haven’t talked with him (Shane Black) yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I’m finished with this (Arnold’s Sports Festival) and “The Apprentice” and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about Conan, about the project moving forward.
Look, the fans are the most important thing because without the fans, I’d be nothing. So I just always want them to know that I appreciate them very much; their loyalty, their dedication, and their passion about all the stuff that i’m doing. So, thank you.”
Let’s just remember that Arnold’s schedule has changed since the two Terminator sequels were put on ice by Paramount, along with The Legend of Conan aka Conan The Conquer without a director (foreshadowing those other meetings). He’s in a position to possibly do The Predator before these other projects figure themselves out.
Don’t forget, Fox has been trying to get him to return to the franchise since Predator 2, developing multiple scripts with his character Dutch in the lead for a Predator 3, and even reached-out to him for a small role in Robert Rodriguez’s Predators.
He’s the face of the most successful installment, having him return is a good idea considering they have multiple story angles to bring him back, as we recently pointed out.
Shane and the studio has some time to work things out as The Predator has the official release date of March 2nd, 2018. Production on the project could take place later this year or even early 2017.
