Asa Butterfield Also In The Mix For SPIDER-MAN Role

Mar 25, 2015

Young actor Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Ender’s Game) is apparently another name now also in the mix for the Peter Parker role in Spider-Man and Avengers: Civil War.

Latino Review are seemingly suggesting that he’s a legit contender for the role. Here’s what they have to say about Asa’s recent comment about being “down” for taking the Spider-Man role.

Details are sparse and I’m sure we’ll have more going forward if we can get some people to spill some names, but Asa Butterfield might have Reddit suggested his way into an audition. Or they were always going to look at Asa either way and he just happened to be making coy comments about wanting the part on Reddit. Either way, might as well through Asa Butterfield on the “people considered” list. It’s another 16/17 year old brunette white guy, seems to fit.

Butterfield is currently shooting Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine. His previous credits include Ender’s Game along with a small role in Joe Johnston’s Wolfman before the director moved-on to make Captain America: The First Avenger. He already has a Captain America connection, so it’s something to consider.

Avengers: Civil War is set for release on May 2016 with the Spider-Man reboot aiming for release date of July 2017.
