The eighteen year old was among a small group of candidates, but seemed to be the frontrunner before is was even linked in the trades. When during AMA Reddit session revealed a huge desire to play the new Spidey, back in March. It’s expected the MCU Spider-Man will first appear in Captain America: Civil War with his first solo adventure in Spider-Man: The New Avenger.

UPDATE: Other sources including The Wrap and Variety suggest that Tom Holland is also in the mix with test offer from Marvel. It remains to be seen if one has been hired over the other, but they do confirm that Asa is currently frontrunner for the role.

Civil War comes out May 6th, 2016 while the new Spider-Man reboot hits theatres on July 28th, 2017.
