‘Avengers 4’ Is Officially Untitled; Are We Getting ‘World War Hulk’ or ‘Secret Wars’?
Marvel has made it official that Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 aka Avengers 4 will be eventually retitled to something new in the future and that Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is now just Avengers: Infinity War.
It’s not terribly shocking as we learned that Infinity War would be a standalone from The Russo Brothers and that the second film would be connected but it’s own thing, along with getting new titles.
I asked the brothers how they decided where to divide the movie – and they said this was a misconception because the two movies are entirely different entities.
“The movies are two very different movies,” answered Joe.
I then asked if it’s misleading having them labeled as “Part 1” and “Part 2”
“It is misleading,” said Anthony.
Joe added, “The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.”
The second film won’t be released until 2019 and they’d have to factor the events from movies like Ant-Man and The Wasp and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel into the fourth Avengers installment. Considering how much the cosmic side will be influencing Captain Marvel, we assume that film will directly lead into Avengers 4.
When the original Planet Hulk rumor from Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto (then Latio Review) came around, he also mentioned Marvel was planning on adapting the World War Hulk story for an Avengers storyline. Basically, it would put Hulk into the villain role as he attempts to get revenge on Earthbound heroes with an alien army of super strong cosmic beings.
Another possible title could be Secret Wars, which had the 80’s crossover comic mini-series recently given a huge relaunch by Marvel Comics, so the title would be recognizable not unlike Age of Ultron or Civil War. Something like Secret Wars could be potentially where the Fox crossover comes into play with the X-Men. The original mini-series is also where Spider-Man got his black suit leading to the creation of anti-hero Venom.
Nobody is saying anything about Thanos not being the big bad.
Avengers: Infinity War is set for release on in May 4th, 2018 with Avengers 4 set for release in May 3rd, 2019.
