Variety has learned that Latina actress Eiza Gonzalez has joined the growing cast of Fox’s Alita: Battle Angel directed by Robert Rodriguez.
Eiza is best known for her role in the horror series From Dusk Till Dawn, which is based on the Robert Rodriguez film. She’ll be seen next in Edgar Wright’s anticipated action flick Baby Driver.
Gonzalez joins a cast that includes Rosa Salazar, Jackie Earle Haley, Ed Skrein, and Christoph Waltz.
Her role isn’t being named, but it wouldn’t be hard to imagine her playing one of the many villains, possibly combat cyborg Sechs or cyberphysician Chiren.
Alita begins shooting this month in Austin with a release date set for July 20th, 2018.
