‘Beasts of No Nation’ Breakout Lead Abraham Attah Joins ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Jun 22, 2016

Deadline has learned that newcomer Abraham Attah, the 15-year old breakout star of Beasts of No Nation, has landed a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Attah, starred alongside Thor actor Idris Elba in the compelling drama about child soldiers.

He was shockingly snubbed for an Oscar nomination for his heartbreaking performance, while winning Best Lead Actor at the Independent Spirit Awards and Best Young Actor at the Vince Film Festival.

Basically, if someone was speculating an actor in the cast for the role of Miles Morales, Attah might fit the bill over the much older Donald Glover. This young man could easily lead a superhero franchise if he wanted to, as he’s a little too high-profile for just a small role.

To say that this cast being put together by director Jon Watts and Marvel is diverse is a serious understatement, and we applaud their efforts to represent an accurate racially diverse Queens.

Also, set photos have revealed that Orange Is The New Black actress Selenis Leyva has joined the cast as well, which looks like she’ll be either playing a teacher or a parent of a classmate.
