Behold The Gothic Glory Of Guillermo del Toro’s ‘CRIMSON PEAK’

Feb 8, 2015

Arguably the most anticipated horror film of 2015 is currently Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak.

The haunted house tale is said to be taking cues from classic horror films like The Haunting and The Shining it should be at the very least one of the more visually impressive films coming later this year.

Some new high resolution stills from the film have been released by Legendary Pictures which had been originally seen in the pages of Empire Magazine and Total Film. To say they’re stunning would be an understatement.

We see some excellent shots of actors Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska surrounded by the elaborately crafted gothic sets.

I can’t tell you how exciting these images are and they sort of ooze a sense of detail we really haven’t seen in a studio horror film since something like Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula. You can definitely see that the classic horror studio Hammer Films was also huge influence on the look of the film as well.

Luckily, Crimson Peak will be released during the Halloween season as it’s date is set for October 16, 2015.

Legendary Pictures’ CRIMSON PEAK, a co-production with Universal Pictures, is a haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy series, Pacific Rim), written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam. In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Callum Greene produce, and Jillian Share executive produces.
