Ben Affleck Confirms ‘The Batman’ Title; Reveals Why He Picked Deathstroke As The Films Villain

Oct 3, 2016

Ben Affleck is currently out on the promotional tour for his new film, The Accountant and in an interview with the Associated Press the actor confirmed the much speculated title for his standalone Batman movie.

It’s called The Batman! Yep, the name you’ve been calling it ever since Warner Bros announced their DC Extended Universe movie slate back in 2014. Here’s what Affleck said:

“The movie I think is going to be called ‘The Batman’. At least that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it.”

The Batman film is gradually starting to come together, and with the recent announcement that Deathstroke would be the films villain Affleck revealed to Collider why he chose that specific character for his solo film.

“He’s a great villain because — I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.”

Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello was last month cast as Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. He will join Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons and J.K Simmonds in The Batman, which is expected to come out late 2018 early 2019.
