Ben Hardy Joins ‘X-MEN APOCALYPSE’; Is He Playing Archangel?

Feb 25, 2015

Another addition to the young cast of Bryan Singer‘s X-Men Apocalypse has been revealed. The Wrap reports that British newcomer Ben Hardy (Eastenders) has taken an unknown role in the film.

UPDATE: The Wrap adds a bit more info.

Hardy was among those who tested to play Cyclops, though the role ultimately went to Sheridan. Hardy was then rumored to be up for the role of Angel, though insiders say he has been cast in another important role that is being kept under wraps.

The rest of the new cast includes Oscar Isaacs, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Cast members such as Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne and Nicholas Hoult are returning.

No official word from the studio if Channing Tatum’s Gambit or Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be in the film.

He could very well be playing a new version of Angel as Archangel. The character has been mentioned by Oscar Isaac in an interview with IGN revealing his desire to see his favorite character join the lineup.

“I don’t really know how they’re going to put all that together or exactly what characters, or how that’s going to work. But I know Angel and Archangel in particular were some of my favorite characters in that storyline. That was such a cool and dark storyline. I think that would be a cool thing to see on film.”

Considering the X-Men turned villain becomes a one of Apocalypse’s (played by Oscar) Four Horsemen along with Gambit and Wolverine, he could be apart of the film. Archangel also becomes a member of X-Force. Rebooting the character from Angel to Archangel could be how they work around the recasting of Ben Foster and timeline.
