Variety along with naming Diego Luna as co-lead with Felicity Jones, they name two other major roles in Star Wars: Rogue One. While it had been assumed Ben Mendelsohn would play a villain, this is our first solid confirmation from the trades he is indeed the primary baddie. Also, Nightcrawler and Four Lions actor Riz Ahmed has been confirmed as well for a role in the film. Riz would be yet another diverse casting choice which Kathy Kennedy and the filmmakers have been keen to provide a very wide-ranging group of actors for these films.
The film sees a group of Rebel forces tasked to steal the plans for the Death Star, which will include zero jedi characters.
Sam Claflin could be still in the mix for a role as well.
Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards and will be scored by Alexander Desplat, with a release date of December 16th, 2016.
