BIG RUMOR: Benicio Del Toro A Mandalorian Member of Knights of Ren in ‘The Last Jedi’?

Feb 20, 2017

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi is easily the most anticipated film of 2017 and we won’t have to wait too long before a trailer is dropped by Lucasfilm. It’s expected that we could be seeing the studio release it concurrently when they show it at Star Wars Celebration 2017 in Orlando, Flordia this April.

Rumors have been flooding online for months and we have a new one concerning Benicio Del Toro’s mysterious role referred to as The Man In Black. If it’s to be believed, this new rumor could be extremely revealing.

Apparently, YouTuber Mike Zeroh spotted on WikiWand that his character had been listed as Sir Vicrum Fett and then the name was quickly replaced with TBA.

There are a few things this name could reveal about the character. The main thing being the name Fett which is leading many to believe he’s a Mandalorian relative of the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Both Jango and Boba were aligned with the enemies of the Jedi.

Another aspect that is being overlooked but we noticed is the title of Sir handed down traditionally to knights. Unless somehow Del Toro is playing a hidden Jedi Knight we’re starting to doubt he’s playing a good guy. The more likely option is that Benicio might be playing a member of Supreme Leader Snoke’s The Knights of Ren alongside Kylo Ren.

The group of seven black-clad Jedi killers had been behind the New Jedi Order slaughter which led to Luke Skywalker’s exile. It’s more than likely the group consists of multiple Mandalorian warriors as Kylo seems to be the only one with a lightsaber. This also might not be the entire team.

The Last Jedi trailer along with the panel during Star Wars Celebration in April should shed some light on Del Toro’s character. For now, since we can’t really confirm this character name it has to remain a big rumor at this point.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 15th, 2017.
