Possible details for Gina Prince-Bythewood‘s Black and Silver have been revealed in a new post made by Splash Report. Suggesting they have the inside information on the film’s details. The spinoff will focus on both Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) and Silver Sablinova (Silver Sable).
Take the following with the biggest grain of salt possible, because it would pull a lot of Spidey villains out of the woodwork and dispute claims the film won’t be connected to either Spider-Man films or the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recent reports also suggest that Gina will be rewriting the script, so it’s unknown how much of this will actually make the final film.
Its location is said to take place in South America in the notorious Triple Frontier, the rest of the rumored details can be read in the link at the bottom of the page, as we’re not big on spoiling films. The volume of villains they state in the film seems a little farfetched considering the sheer volume of them.
Villains are said to include Dmitri Smerdyakov (The Chameleon), Lonnie Lincoln (Tombstone), and Sergei Nikolaevich Kravinoff (Kraven). Oscorp will have a big presence with Norman Osborn (Green Goblin), Dr. Mendel Stromm, and Charles Standish will be in the film. Stromm’s henchmen are listed as MacDonald Gargan (Scorpion) and Anton Miguel Rodriquez (Tarantula).
Non-Sony characters said to appear in the film include Dominic Fortune and Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman). Dominic and Jessica are characters that weren’t introduced in the pages of Spider-Man comics, it’s unlikely Sony has direct access to them without some help from Marvel Studios.
It remains to be seen if Sony has any rights to Drew outside of her alter ego name Spider-Woman.
Fortune is confirmed as a Marvel character as Delroy Lindo was set to play him in the ABC series Marvel’s Most Wanted.
Roxxon (also mentioned) is a company well established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Iron Man 1-3, Avengers, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., along with upcoming series Cloak and Dagger (pilot directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood). It first appeared in the pages of Captain America, clearly not in the Sony rights package.
These details (if true) would refute that both MCU and Spider-Man connections aren’t happening in these spinoffs.
The biggest oddity of this is zero mentioning of Sable’s notorious mercenary group The Wild Pack, who could include Sandman, Paladin, and The Prowler.
Production is set to begin this fall.
