BIG RUMOR: Stallone Playing Nova Corpsman or Kree Soldier In ‘Guardians 2’?

Mar 9, 2016

A couple days ago it was reported by The New York Daily News that recent Oscar nominee Sly Stallone had joined Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2.

Marvel and director James Gunn have yet to officially announce or confirm his addition to the cast.

A rumor has come out concerning what costume Stallone will be wearing in the film, and this could be giving huge clues to his role. Let’s treat this as a big rumor for the moment, and take with a grain of salt.

Now, this week, we’ve confirmed with someone on the set that Sylvester Stallone has indeed been filming scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The tipster, who wishes to remain anonymous, also told us, “His costume looks a lot like Judge Dredd.”

At first glance this sounds like Sly could be making a cameo as a Nova Corpsman, possibly even Nova himself Richard Rider. I’m really hoping they did a redesign on the Nova helmets and costumes, because they looked really cheap in the first film.

There’s another possibility as well.

Let’s remember that there was a rumor that the original Captain Marvel aka Kree solider Mar-Vell would be apart of the film. It’s equally possible that Sly could also be playing a Kree, there’s been some speculation that Gunn would be exploring the Kree Empire a lot more in the sequel. One version of Mar-Vell’s Captain Marvel costume did include a helmet, not unlike ones that Dredd and Nova Corps wear.

Then again, this could be false or he might be playing a completely new character created for the film.
