Bill Condon’s ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ Assembles A Production Team – When Will It Shoot?

Jan 15, 2018

In October, it was reported that Universal pulled Bride of Frankenstein from their release slate due to delays and that Gal Gadot was eyed to replace Angelina Jolie as the Bride while pre-production was paused.

Jolie seemingly had chosen to make Maleficent 2 instead, which we’ve reported is expected to start this April.

Oscar-Winner Javier Bardem is still set to star and Bill Condon (Beauty and The Beast) to direct but it’s currently up-in-the-air when it will begin it’s London production. However, we’ve learned that they’ve assembled the production team in the meantime and suggests the wheels are back in motion.

The crew includes cinematographer Tobias A. Schliessler (Lone Survivor, Beauty and The Beast, A Wrinkle In Time), production designer Sarah Greenwood (Darkest Hour, Beauty and The Beast, Atonement, Sherlock Holmes), composer Carter Burwell (Carol, Fargo, True Grit, No Country For Old Men, Three Billboards), and costume designer Jacqueline Durran (Beauty and The Beast, Atonement, Darkest Hour).

If, they want Gal Gadot to star as the Bride it looks like they’ll have to wait for her. She was in talks for a starring role in Justin Kurzel‘s Nazi hunter film Ruin which is in pre-production and aiming to shoot soon. Then, Gal is expected to shoot Patty JenkinsWonder Woman 2 over the summer starting in June.

This gives the impression they’ll have to wait until the fall before filming will begin or they find someone else for the role and shoot sooner.

The Mummy was a huge hiccup for the Dark Universe, The Bride could be a course correction and having a seasoned director/crew behind it should help.

Bride of Frankenstein is currently without updated production and release dates.
