‘Black Panther’s 4-Day Weekend Earnings Slashes ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘The Last Jedi’

Feb 20, 2018

Projections, tracking, and estimates have been all over the place concerning Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. The original tacking tried to place the opening weekend around $100 million and at almost every turn the film has outpaced industry predictions. Even the three-day and four-day estimates were off.

It’s now looking like the film has earned $201.8 million┬áduring the regular weekend, making it the fifth largest domestic opening placing it ahead of Avengers: Age of Ultron. A huge undertaking to overshadow an Avengers installment out of the gate.

It had been estimated to earn around $235 million for the four-day weekend, but now seems like will more in the realm of $242 million (another estimate that was off by almost $10 million) or more. The new four-day earnings places the solo debut ahead of The Last Jedi and Jurassic World, suggesting the film could be on it’s way to the billion-dollar club.
