‘Blade Runner 2’ Adds Oscar Nominated Barkhad Abdi From ‘Captain Phillips’ and ‘Eye In The Sky’

Jun 28, 2016

Blade Runner 2 has finally added another male cast member, as it looked like it was going to be mostly women in the film. Oscar nominated actor Barkhad Abdi will join Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Dave Bautista as one the supporting male leads of the film.

The rest of the cast includes Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, and Carla Juri.

Abdi is best known for his career launching role in Captain Phillips opposite Tom Hanks, but was recently apart of the military drone thriller Eye In The Sky starring Helen Mirren, the latter sharing a title with another Philip K. Dick sci-fi story. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? was the basis of the original Blade Runner film.

Not much of the film is known, but some rumored plot details involve possibly seeing Ford’s Deckard being the McGuffin aka object-of-interest in the film, since it’s been said he won’t even be showing-up until the third act.
