‘Blade Runner 2049’ Production Designer Dennis Gassner Returns For ‘Bond 25’

Dec 15, 2017

It’s starting to look like Daniel Craig‘s final outing as 007 in Bond 25 has started hiring the crew and is about to enter pre-production. We’ve learned that veteran production designer Dennis Gassner has joined the film.

He’s no stranger to the franchise as he’s previously worked on Skyfall and Spectre. Usually, the production designer is one of the first hires because of the extensive production construction and location scouting involved with the Bond films.

Interesting enough, Dennis recently worked with fellow Canadian and reported directorial candidate Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) on Blade Runner 2049.

That wouldn’t be the only Skyfall connection Denis has, he works with cinematographer Roger Deakins consistently. The pair have worked together on Blade Runner 2049, Sicario, and Prisoners.

We still don’t know who will end up landing the directing gig, but I think a lot of people (including myself) are rooting for Oscar nominee Villeneuve.

Denis is attached for a new incarnation of Dune at Legendary Pictures which is still only in the development phase and will likely need years of production design before it will be ready to go. It could mean Denis might have some free time on his hands while he’s working on the script with screenwriter Eric Roth.

EON and MGM have set the release date for November 8th, 2019.
