Bob Iger Says ‘Indiana Jones’ Will Eventually Get “A Reboot of Some Sort”

Jun 22, 2016

Indiana Jones 5 will see the return of director Steven Spielberg, actor Harrison Ford and producer George Lucas, the future of the franchise beyond this next film is sort of unknown officially.

However, reports for a while now suggested Lucasfilm was looking to reboot with a younger actor, names such as Bradley Cooper and more recently Jurassic World‘s Chris Pratt had been linked as potential replacements. The reboot talk was highly denied by Spielberg and producer Frank Marshall, but it doesn’t sound like Disney shares this opinion.

During an extensive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s Bob Iger reveals that they are indeed planning on rebooting the franchise in some way after the fifth movie.

You have another Lucasfilm property, Indiana Jones, and Steven Spielberg has agreed to make a fifth film. Will there be an Indiana Jones universe, eventually, likeStar Wars?

“Not like Star Wars, no. But we hope … right now, we’re focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort.”

Indiana Jones 5 will be released on July 19th, 2019.
