Bond 25 news has been scarce over the last couple of months outside of MGM revealing they were working on getting it released by 2018-2019.
MI6 HQ (via ComicBook) has revealed one of the many potential shooting locations for the film. They state that Dubrovnik, Croatia is going to be one of them. The city recently was used for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Robin Hood: Origins.
That changed today with confirmation from the city’s mayor that EON were in advanced talks to host some Bond 25 filming in Dubrovnik. This time last year, the mayor of Dubrovnik said that financial negotiations were just starting. When quizzed yesterday at a press conference about the shooting of ‘Robin Hood’ in the city, the mayor told the local media: “James Bond is in an advanced stage of negotiations.”
This isn’t entirely shocking as the folks over Eon traditionally are the ones who pick the locales for the films. Most of the time, these locales are chosen before a director is even hired and will help mold the script.
MI6 HQ also points out they filmed the Heineken ad for Spectre in Rovinj, Croatia.
This begs the question who is playing 007?
That top-notch scoop hound named “Radar Online staff” broke the story that Eon was willing to play $150 million to Daniel Craig to stick around for two more films. I’ll let your head stop spinning before the logistics of that comes full circle and what that could mean for the next film’s price tag which is already bloated before adding an extra $75 million on top of it.
Bond distribution rights are currently up for option and they don’t have an official home, nobody is cutting big deals like that. However, they are meeting with new actors for the role.
We’ve had more respectable reports that have named plenty of potential replacements. Those names on the “shortlist” included Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Jamie Bell, Charlie Hunnam, Adian Turner, and James Norton.
It remains to be seen who will play 007 in Bond 25 and when it’ll start shooting.
