Boston Might Be The Main Location For ‘New Mutants’; Josh Boone Back In Town

May 2, 2017

Tidbits concerning the upcoming X-Men projects have been trickling in slow and steady.

Omega Underground recently confirmed X-Men: Dark Phoenix (aka Teen Spirit) would be shooting this June-October in Montreal and we uncovered audition tapes that might reveal a reboot of Rogue is on the horizon.

We were also able to confirm a June-September shoot in Vancouver for David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 (aka Love Machine) months back.

Another project we’ve been keeping our eyes on is Josh Boone’s New Mutants (aka Growing Pains) film. Some new developments spotted by us on Boone’s social media is further supporting the theory that the film’s main shooting location will be Boston and the surrounding area.

Omega Underground recently spotted Boone scouting locations in the city and this was later confirmed by The Boston Globe, that scenes would be indeed shot in Boston.

Now, Boone has been posting images over the last three days back in the city ahead of its possible production start as we’ve pointed out on June 4th (same as Dark Phoenix). One of the three posts includes Josh hanging out with visual effects supervisor/editor/cinematographer Greg Borkman, we wouldn’t be shocked if Borkman is working on New Mutants. The two previously worked on Fault In Our Stars together.

This is leading us to believe that Boston will be the main shooting location for the film.

Casting news hasn’t been made official but Boone has teased that Maisie Williams is most likely playing Wolfsbane via film’s concept art and Anya-Taylor Joy has been linked for the Majik role. Josh has recently suspended his Twitter account but he had been Retweeting articles suggesting that James McAvoy would have a role in the film.

X-Men: The New Mutants is set for release on April 13th, 2018.
