Bryan Cranston Wants A Shot At Playing ‘X-Men’ Villain Mr. Sinister

Oct 12, 2015

During an interview with IGN while promoting his new show SuperMansion, Bryan Cranston finally revealed the Marvel villain he’d like to play. It’s not someone would have thought he’d pick, but it’s well-known X-Men villain Mr. Sinister.

“It intrigues me to be able to play a character that hasn’t been on film before, so you can create it from the beginning.”

A while back he mentioned an intention to play a “nasty” Marvel villain.

Besides the Marauders, Sinister also had ties with the Nasty Boys, another group of mutant villains. It’s possible he was referring to Sinister the entire time, which is quite funny he’d know an obscure reference like that. Being involved with a superhero series like SuperMansion it’s likely he actually knows comics books quite well.

You might not remember this but not too long ago Bryan revealed that he had been up for the role of Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class only to have to turn it down, which led to Kevin Bacon taking the part instead.

Sinister is actually one of the few big named X-Men villains yet to be adapted by Fox, and could be placed really anywhere in the future lineup. He has a strong connection to Gambit‘s time in his genocidal supervillain group the Marauders, which could be incorporated into a sequel, if that movie ever finds a director. Projects like New Mutants, X-Force and even the possible Deadpool 2 could include him.

The Nasty Boys, would make an excellent group for Deadpool or X-Force to up against.

He could even be apart of potential Morlocks spin-off if Fox ever tried to fo that route in the future. Fox has a tendency to kill-off any major X-Men villain that isn’t Magneto, but it would be nice to see him as a villain that spans over multiple films, acting as the X-Men’s Blofeld.
