Bryan Singer Confirms Olivia Munn Is Psylocke In ‘X-Men Apocalypse’; Is She A Villain?

Apr 13, 2015

Today, it was announced by Variety that former Attack of the Show host and self-proclaimed nerd Olivia Munn has been cast in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men Apocalypse. While Munn has had extremely minor roles in other films this might be her first breakout role as mutant fan-favorite Psylocke. Psylocke has had minor roles in past X-Men films but shes expected to have a large role in the upcoming sequel Days of Future Past.

She joins  the returning “First Class” cast of James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystquie, Micheal Fassbender as Erik Lensshurr and Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy. They are joined by fan favorite Evan Peters as Quicksilver and new comers Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandria Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler and Ben Hardy as Angel. Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum are rumored to cameo in the film as Wolverine and Gambit respectively. With Oscar Issac as the title villain Apocalypse.

Bryan Singer has confirmed the news by announcing Munn who recently co-starred in the hit HBO series The Newsroom, along with many other film roles after leaving her hosting duties on Attack The Show has landed the role of Betsy in the X-Men sequel via Twitter and Instagram accounts. We’ve previously pointed out that Psylocke could be one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse alongside Ben Hardy’s Archangel. She’s also taken-on the villainess alter-ego Lady Mandarin before becoming Death on one of the many Four Horsemen teams. The two X-Men members have romantics links and ties as villains together. It’s also expected the role could transfer over to the Jeff Wadlow scripted X-Force.

You might remember that Olivia had a supporting role in Channing Tatum‘s Magic Mike. I’m curious if they’ll trying to pair-up Psylocke and Gambit in future films.

Olivia also had a brief appearance in Iron Man 2.

Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN
